Agency relationships
California law requires real estate licensees to give buyers and sellers a written disclosure explaining agency relationships (who the agent represents and what duties they owe) as soon as practicable in a transaction. You will receive and be asked to acknowledge that disclosure before entering into a representation agreement.
You can read the required disclosure language in California Civil Code §2079.16 (opens in a new tab), and the DRE’s guidance for consumers on its consumer information page (opens in a new tab). Visiting this site or submitting a form does not create an agency relationship.
